Have you ever tried a liver cleanse? Even if you haven’t gone through with it yourself, if you run in the right circles it’s pretty likely you’ve at least heard of it. People who have undergone liver cleanses love to talk about them, often feeling like they have some precious insight that needs to be shared with the world.
Thing is, what is sometimes left unsaid is what needs to happen after the liver cleanse. There are many things that a person needs to undergo in order to make the liver cleanse worth it, particularly if you’d like the effects to last. After all, a detox or cleanse can be quite the undertaking, and you want to ensure that the experience was worth your time.
For starters, you don’t want to end a cleanse by diving straight back into your old habits. Cleanses should end in fruits and vegetables, and not foods that are enemies of the liver (such as fatty foods, processed foods, and fast foods). Secondly, you want to make sure that you’re actively trying to take in daily foods that are good for the liver. And finally, a cleanse shouldn’t be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. At the start of each new season, you should be ready to take it on all over again.
